A benefit of solitude in wild places is the expanse of time and space wherein our thinking can really stretch its wings in wonder. I made this video at breakfast two weeks ago while watching the desert dawn unfold into quiet empty. The thing I call "The Great Indifference" (it's an imaginary idea from my book) could be seen out there twenty miles distant in the Bullion Mountains, which fact provoked thoughts of how we try to comfort ourselves from the universe's deep empty with reassuring thoughts of forever. It's a curious game we play to mask what apparently really isn't. A curious game indeed.
