This house may be my favorite yet. The current owner purchased and renovated the place for his parent’s retirement, and with their passing he wishes to “give” the house and land to anyone who might enjoy it. The house includes a large garden plot in the sunny front yard and abuts a mixed conifer and deciduous (think Fall colors) forest stretching for miles behind. There’s a gentle stream valley a quarter-mile to the north winding into the mountains beyond, ready and waiting for your long walks with a packed lunch and a book. This home is located in Niigata prefecture, so expect light snows in the winter. Costs to complete transfer of ownership to whoever chooses to call this place home are just $11,000 USD. A Totoro dream if I’ve ever seen one.
