Such moments! I found myself, yesterday, back in the sea of my childhood; a warm, frothing surf, pulsing with great forward energies across waist-high waters from sea to sand. Warm water and a warmer wind blowing, and a seemingly endless train of foaming lines of wet energy passing by and tossing me hard and strong all about. Just like when I was ten! The experience brought me back to my being a child at this same beach, experiencing these same waves and wind and pounding, pulsing energies of early summer upon the earth—sun and sea and sand and warm and in every way alive! What an experience to be ten again at almost age sixty! What a opportunity of second chance.
When I returned home near dark, my skin warm and my salty hair standing wild with a touch of sunshine bleech, I told Yumiko that I’d met my boyhood self that evening in the surf. And that he and I had frolicked and played together for more than an hour as the earth and sun stood still and time refused to move. I expect my wife suspects hyperbole, though what I say is true. Maybe not about the time of course, some things being only seeming. Though there was magic to be sure yesterday in the sea. And I was truly young then yesterday in the sea. I was ten-years old yesterday, for an hour alone in the waves. Though if anyone had noticed from the beach, I was just another old man wading carefully and safely in the sea.
